This project commemorates the more than "4,000 single women who arrived at Sydney under a special emigration scheme designed to resettle destitute girls from the workhouses of Ireland during the Great Famine". Many of these girls may have had relatives sent out as convicts.

The journal provides an informative, witty and insightful account into the 7 month voyage. Part of the National Maritime Collection held at the Australian National Maritime Museum.
